Bergen: March 2015


The second project meeting took place in the city of Bergen from March 5th to 7th, 2015.

Project partners from Norway, Germany and the UK were joined by new partners from the Reviuslycuem from the Netherlands.

After welcomes and reiterating the project aims for our new partners we discussed the development of three eBooks for the first part of the project.

Progress was discussed and work was done on the development of these three books (see the first blog discussion for the conceptual framework). The three eBooks are under development and timescales were set looking forward to the multiplier event in Karlsruhe in October of this year.

The three books will focus on:

    B1 – The production of eBooks by students and teacher educators.

    B2 – The affordance of the eBook and the nature of interactivity in books set against some pedagogic frameworks (Bloom, iPAC                  and others).

    B3 – Training teachers to use tablets in the classroom and beyond.

The use of widgets


We have previously discussed the affordances of eBooks, one of which is the inclusion of interactive widgets. We are working with a number of group but especially the Belgium company BookWidgits who have developed an extensive number of widgets.

The teacher toolkit

We were joined via Skype by Matthew Kearney where we discussed the development of the teacher took-kit and both the conceptual model developed by Kearney and Burden, the iPAC model, and the teacher survey we are going to use as part of this took-kit.

The iPAC model suggests that mobile technologies have three key affordances

  • Personalisation
  • Collaboration
  • Authenticity

The 1st Multiplier Event / Mini Conference

We also worked on the first multiplier event / mini conference for the project where we will have three key purposes:

  • Dissemination
  • Testing
  • Implementation

The conference will run over 2 days in Karlsruhe, Germany and will have both a local and an international focus. More details can be found on the Events page.
